There are several quizzes/questionnaires online that will direct you in the area that might suit you, and give you some examples of careers in that area. I have known what I wanted to do since I was young (speech pathology), but when I took one of those tests just for fun in high school, it actually said that speech pathology would be good for me.
Anyway, you could also think about you're good at and what you like to do. For me, I loved speech and language, and I wanted to be able to help people or work with kids, and that's how I came to love speech pathology.
If you find something you like doing, then it won't ever feel like work.
Good luck! What could help me figure out what career I want to go to college for?
Your high school may have a career center or resources in the library. I would think about what subjects you enjoy currently and what you are naturally good at. Are you good at science? English? ect. You can definitely do some Google searches on careers, but what might be more helpful is to take a trip to your local library and ask them for the section on careers. Overall, while it's good to have an idea and begin thinking about your future career, don't put too much pressure on yourself as you may change your mind once you get to college. Many students switch majors once they enter college as well. have fun and enjoy.
I am also a junior, and for me, I was interested in medicine from a younger age, but became really interested in it when I was older, as in 9th/10th grade or so. When I was younger I really wanted to be a veterinarian, but now I am interested in becoming a physician (for humans). It's funny because while I was interested in medicine for a long time, I became interested in human medicine through medical tv shows actually. I know that these tv shows are not entirely realistic, however they're not entirely far fetched either. What I'm saying is that random things can spark your interest lol. But I know it wasn't just a shortlived thing, because I really feel that I would love to go into medicine.
I would suggest trying out different careers if you can. Volunteer or intern in the fields you are interested in. To find out what you are interested in, some career quizzes can be a good start. Think about activities you do and what your passions are, I'm sure you must have some.
good luck, and know that your career plans absolutely can be changed, don't feel stuck in one career.
