What is the best way to figure out this whole ovulation thing?

I have irregular AF every month, so I don't know if I ovulate at the same time every month or what! I heard about the ov watch, has anyone heard about this little contraption? It is a lot of work just guessing, please anybodies help is appriciated. Baby dust too all...What is the best way to figure out this whole ovulation thing?
The only way to be really sure is to buy an ovulation test kit and check which days you are ovulating (they look like hpcs and work in the same way; positive = you are ovulating). I had a very irregular ovulation cycle too (anything from day 16-20) and without the test sticks I would not have known which dates to go for. Some people say to check your temperature with a normal thermometer, but I did that too and I could not find a real rise in temperature during ovulation. It would fluctuate regardless of when I was ovulating or not... It did show a significant rise when I did get pregnant though, about half of a degree (celcius) for about a week...

Lots of luck!!What is the best way to figure out this whole ovulation thing?
I too also have irregular periods. I do a BBT chart and check my CM. So far I like the method of you checking your own cervix and watching you CM
Buy an ovulation kit....They are like 25 dollars
My suggestion would be to hook up with a Billings Ovulation Method instructor. It is a very scientific method of Natural Family Planning that can help navigate through very difficult cycles. It will help you identify what is fertile for you, etc.
I also have irregular cycles. Most people do ovulate at different times of the month though. Your luteal phase it what needs to stay the same. If your luteal phase is the same then that is good. I would see your dr and see if she can try to regulate your cycles by putting you on progesterine. That is what my dr is starting me on this month. Try charting your temp every morning with a BBT thermometer. Set your alarm to get up the same time every morning and chart it. You can go to fertilityfriend.com and chart it there. I just print out my charts and take them with me to the dr. It is the best way to see any patterns with your cycles. Good luck!!
