What's a good way to figure out how much money I need to make?

I have a 5 yr old son. His dad is supporting us both right now. I want to go back to work now that my son is in school because I don't feel my boyfriend is making enough money for the 3 of us! I'm also tired of relying on someone else for money. What's a good way to figure out how much money I need to make?
Good for you.

To figure out the amount of the independent income, calculate what you pay for essentials and obligations for a month: rent, housing, food, power, water, and legal obligations like payments on a two-year cell phone contract. Multiple that monthly amount by 2. Then divide that amount by .70. If you want the yearly amount, multiple the number by 12.

If you need 2000 a month for your basic needs, you will need a job that makes 68571 annually. (((2000 * 2) / .70) *12). This is enough money to meet your needs, your wants and to have savings.
