Okay, you should get his/her cage on the floor because if they see it, they will come to it.
Also, you should get bowls, small enough for your hamster to reach, and fill some with water and some with hamster food. Just in case your hamster gets hungry. Put the cage and bowls in the hallways. You should check one room at a time and when you are finished checking the room, close the door. Do this to all the rooms. Cover up the hole that you made, so that your hamster can't come into the room. Then you will have less places to look. Constantly check the hallways for your hamster. When you leave the house make sure that your hamster doesn't escape. I hope that this works.
Good luck, and if you have any questions, e-mail me at: animal.love@rocketmail.com.How do I figure out where my hamster is hiding?

Um mm...no more holes in the wall.....that is not going to help you in any ways but upset your landlord of your a renter....you may not find him again, hamsters are very hard to find once they have tasted freedom. One thing you could do is to put his cage on the floor and leave the room. Our Russian White Nibler had escaped his ball and surprisingly he went back to his cage that was on the floor. Try that, just be sure to leave the room and check it periodically. If you stay in the room waiting to see him, he may see you and not want to come out of hiding. Remember even though we see hamsters as cute pets, they are still rodents and always will act like them. Good luck and I hope you find your buddy.
Try looking under all furniture and if you have a couch he can get up into from the bottom, look there. Hamsters are attracted to dark places. Try looking for him at night when he is normal active. During the day, he is likely to be asleep. When looking, try to make sure to keep quiet and move as little as possible. Try putting his cage on the floor and leaving the door open. Even in some cases, put little piles of food on the floor in each room.
try making a trap like this:

put food in the bottom and maybe something with a strong smell.
Good Luck!

Hamsters like to hide under their hay, or nesting material. Just dig around in there to see it. If its not in there, then it could be in your house.
To look for them in the house, you can go to youtube.com.
Search lost hamster. and some things will pop up. That will give you the best detail on this question,.
Hope it helped.
