I am Married filing joint, with one child. How do I figure out how much I should have paid thur the yearHow do I figure out how much I should have paid on my taxes just by looking at my YTD?
At this point the best thing you can do is go ahead and purchase your turbo tax and/or download the IRS forms. Just complete the computation as if you were filing for your year to date pay stub information. That will tell you whether you are getting money back or not.
Your company should have a worksheet that you can use to determine how much you should be withholding. If not you can get it off the IRS site. How do I figure out how much I should have paid on my taxes just by looking at my YTD?
How old is the child? Do you qualify for the child tax credit? Do you have child care and qualify for dependent child care? Also is your adjusted gross income less than $35,241 so you qualify for the earned income credit? Did you make a contribution to a regular IRA? There are too many variables to say at this point to be able to tell. Mostly it depends on how much you made and how you filled out your W4 for witholdings.
