You can't say based on those numbers alone. A player with more range might be able to get more plays, which may result in some errors. A worse player may not even get to a ball and thus won't get counted as a play. If every one of those players were routine, then you can save the player with 5 errors out of 20 is better, but you need visual evidence to truly determine the better defender.In highschool girls fastpitch how do you figure the average for errors in defense?
Here is how to compute fielding averages:
Fielding average, divide the total putouts and assists by the total of putouts, assists and errors;
It's the same for softball and baseball.
