How do you figure out those nine puzzles?

Those ones with the eight pieces and you slide them around? My younger brother is doing one on a computer game and he can't figure it out. There must be some easy way to finish them. First answerer that explains it best wins ten points. How do you figure out those nine puzzles?
I'm trying to picture what you're referring to. Do you mean a 3x3 square with sliding tiles and an open space in the corner, kinda like this?

A B C

D E F

G H x where ';x'; is the open space

Assuming you know which pieces go where, you should start by solving either the top row or the left side, assuming that the open space is in the bottom-right corner. Put one corner of that row into place, then bring the other two pieces next to each other and work them toward their homes together. Once you have this row completed, you never have to touch it again.

Then put the other two pieces of the far column into place. (In my example, if you solved the ABC row first, then put D and G into place next.) Once that's done, just slide the remaining tiles around until the open space is back in the corner in which it belongs, and that should solve your puzzle.

It's hard to describe over the Internet, but I hope this helps. How do you figure out those nine puzzles?
Hi there,

I don't understand your question properly. I am sorry. You may have to explain the question more specifically. Here is the puzzle about Yahoo! MahJong Games Hall Of Fame. Hope it helps in certain ways.
